Nailhead Trim Bulletin Board

Nailhead trim is all the rage lately. And I must say I’ve definitely jumped on board!

I think it adds instant glam to any piece of furniture. Like Centsational Girl’s dreamy headboard, and this gorgeous tufted side chair.

While I save my pennies to buy a headboard and chair, I knew I had to do something quick and on the cheap to satisfy my need for that shiny metal.

That’s where this blah bulletin board came in. It’s a part of the desk in our guest room, and it needed a little love.

Pretty boring right?

I bought some fabric (on sale!) and some silver thumb tacks…and went to town creating my faux nailhead trim.

It didn’t take too long at all. But I did have some sore thumbs by the end of it.

See…so shiny and purty!

I think the colors work perfectly with our gray and yellow guest room.

My mom uses a spoon to press in the tacks so her hands won’t hurt! 🙂

  • Kimm, what a great idea! Thanks for the tip!

  • I love this idea! I have been wanting to bling up a big bulletin board. Did you measure out the spaces between the thumbtacks? Do you think it would look good to spray-paint a wooden bulletin board border with gold spray paint? I want to create a blingy look that looks classy and fun.

    • I just kinda eyeballed the space between each thumbtack. Too much work to measure each and every one. Gold spray paint would look good! Or you could wrap the bulletin board in a bright color of fabric and then do gold thumbtacks to get that pop of gold in there!

      Good luck Barbara!
