Utensil Holder Featuring My Favorite Recipe

Cutting-BoardToday is a very special day…it’s my Meme’s Birthday!

To celebrate this fabulous day, I want to share a homemade gift I made for my grandma a few years back.

Utensil Holder with cookie recipe
It’s a utensil holder for the kitchen and acts as a catch-all for spatulas, whisks, and everything in between.  I must say it’s quite the necessity for any kitchen.
Colorful spoons and spatulas
I found the utensil holder at Walmart for maybe $6?? It’s porcelain and just a plain, jane white. But, to personalize this gift I decided to add on a favorite recipe of mine.
The recipe is for the yummiest oatmeal chocolate chip cookies ever! These bad boys are seriously delish. They were my Meme’s mother’s recipe…and have been passed down from generation to generation.
I thought it was only fitting that the recipe be emblazoned on the kitchen catch-all, since it is a part of our family baking tradition.
Porcelaine Pen 150
I used a porcelain pen (the same one I used for our Scrabble Tile Coasters) and free handed the recipe onto the canister. Clearly, I don’t have the best handwriting in the world…but at least it is readable.
Then I just followed the directions on the pen and “baked” it in the oven, so it stays on there permanently.
Utensil Holder with Recipe
This is a seriously easy, yet personal gift. I’m sure any mom, sister, or friend would love to receive one of these kitchen caddies! It will cost you less than $10, and only a small chunk of your time.

Now there was no way I could finish this post without giving you guys the recipe for those chocolate chippers! It would be cruel to show you the pictures, but not give you the goods.
Cowboy cookies chocolate chip oatmeal cookie
I warn you that the cookie dough batter is almost as good as the actual cookie. So prepare to eat many secret scoops of dough. If I could have the cookie dough on hand everyday for dessert, I would be in heaven (and I would also weigh 5,000 pounds) Side Note: When it comes to eating cookie dough (with raw eggs) I typically say salmonella, shmamonella. I’ve never gotten sick before. 🙂

  • Haha – I’ve never gotten sick from cookie dough either – eat on! I love this gift idea and think it would be really cute for a bridal shower too – especially paired with the utensils inside.

I agree the dough is the BEST part. STILL freaks my mom out when my sister and I lick the raw dough beaters, and we’re in our 40s now!! I love this idea. Totally going to do this as a gift too. I found your blog through the Haven FB – Look forward to meeting you there!

  • That is too funny! I’ve definitely gotten a few tummy aches from eating waaaay too much dough…but never salmonella!

Excited to meet you at Haven too! It will be here before we know it!
