Our New Ikea Bar Stools

We definitely had to downsize when we moved into our new place.

Goodbye, kitchen table!
See ya later, TV stand!
Adios, wooden hutch!

Even though we had to get rid of some really big pieces, we actually had to buy a few new pieces as well. After moving in, we quickly realized that we needed 2 bar stools for our kitchen island. With no room for a kitchen table, this would be our makeshift “dining” area. Not very romantic for those lovely home cooked meals with my man, but that’s city living for ya!

On one hand we didn’t want to spend a ton of money on new bar stools, specifically because we’re unsure if we’ll need them at our next place. On the other hand, we didn’t want stools so cheap that they fall apart by Christmas.

We decided to hit up Ikea and see if we could find 2 stools for about $200.

Luckily, we spotted these 2 stools for $119 a piece. Sure it was a little over our small budget, but they were just what we wanted!

My man got to work putting them together (ohhh Ikea, so many steps!) and they were both done in under an hour.

Now we have a nice comfy spot for our bums.

I really like the brown leather. Brings a very masculine vibe to our otherwise feminine kitchen.  And the leather makes them wipe-able and easy to clean.
I also think these stools are very sturdy. No wobbling here…

I’ve found this kitchen island area to be a great blogging spot for me, as our office is currently “under construction.”  I just set up shop right here at the counter, and can be in the same room as my man as he cooks or watches football.

So are you an Ikea fan? Or would you rather buy something that is already put together? I’m an Ikea girl all the way, you just can’t beat those prices!

I have never been to an Ikea. Sigh.

  • Put it on your bucket list. It is quite the experience!
