Once you have the tags ready, it’s time for the real fun…. filling those jars.

Mason Jar Ingredients

Rookie Tip: When filling up your large mason jars with these ingredients, it’s important that you PACK each layer down as much as you can (you can use a small ladle in order to do this). Without packing the ingredients down, the jar will not be big enough to fit all of the chocolate chips and M&M’s at the end. We also used a napkin wrapped around a spatula to wipe the inside of the jar after we added the flour. The flour added some unwanted “flour residue” and the napkin spatula combo was the ticket in making sure that unwanted “fog” didn’t affect the clarity of the other layers.

Here’s the Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe:

To Fill the Jar:
Spoon and pack 1 1/2 cup of all purpose flour into the jar
add 1 tsp of baking powder and 1 tsp baking soda
add 1/4 tsp of salt
pack down 1 cup of oats
add 1/2 cup of brown sugar (packed)
add 1/2 cup of sugar
add 3/4 cups of M&M’s and 3/4 cups of semi sweet chocolate chips

To Bake the Cookies:
Empty all dry ingredients into a large bowl

Add one beaten egg, 1/2 cup of butter & one tsp of vanilla together

Slowly add your wet ingredients into the dry ingredients
Ball your mixture into 1 1/2 balls on parchment paper on a cookie sheet
Pop in a 350 degree oven for ten minutes.
Yields about 25 cookies!

Hi, can you please confirm if the flour is 1 1/3 cup or 1 1/2 cup? The photo of the jar and layers say 1 1/3 cup, but the written recipe below that says 1 1/2 cup. Thanks!

    • Sorry about that!! I have to fix that….
It’s actually: 1 1/3 cup all purpose flour
