Casey’s Fall Home Tour – Easy Cozy Ideas

Over the summertime, I wasn’t feeling very inspired or energized about my home’s decor. Maybe it’s because I was still recuperating from our long bathroom renovation and the thought of changing anything up around my home sounded exhausting. But now that fall is here my energy is back!

My Fall Home Tourย Fall home tour with plaid and seasonal touches

Even though I love the fall season, I’m not one for over-the-top seasonal decorations. You won’t find dozens of pumpkins & gourds, wreaths and signs that say “FALL”, or scarecrows around here. Instead, I think you can refresh your home for the fall season with a few small tweaks and some simple swaps throughout your space.

These simple swaps are great because you don’t have to store a ton of off-season decor and each of the new pieces we swapped out were all relatively inexpensive.

Add fall leaves to a clear vase On an everyday basis, my home usually leans towards a cool palette and I add pops of greenery here and there. For fall, I decided to warm things up a bit and I swapped a lot of the greenery for fall branches and colors.

Here are some ways I did just that in my fall home tour…

Bring on the PlaidPlaid lumbar pillow from Tonic Living

Your bed is an easy place to welcome a new season. I’ve accumulated a few quality pillows over the years that I love to swap depending on the season.

For fall, I got out these forest green velvet pillows from Article (that I actually use for the holidays too!) and my latest addition is the plaid lumbar. Isn’t it gorgeous?Plaid pillow for a fall home tour

I got it from Tonic Living (they have the best patterns) and the quality is top notch. I love the size and the pattern in this space.ย Swap out a few pillows to update your bedroom for fall

All I did was change out 3 pillows on my bed, and my bedroom looks completely different. Isn’t it crazy how that happens?ย Board and batten hallway with hooks

I also added a pop of plaid to our board and batten hallway. Bridget and I love “decorating” with scarves and keeping this plaid one out on display adds pattern and fall color to this white space.

As I mentioned in this post, I love using scarves during the fall and winter as decor. Hang one on a hook, use it as a throw blanket on a couch, or have it spilling out of a wicker basket for some extra texture and pattern.

Wood AccentsWood vase from target with greenery

Wood adds so much warmth to any space and I recently picked up this new vase from Target! There are 3 sizes and I just might have to buy the other 2 (this one is the medium). White campaign dresser with a wood vase styled on top

I love the shape, the solid structure, and the rustic touch it adds to my white nightstand.ย White built-in shelves with accessories

I also found this wooden box from HomeGoods to replace a large gray one I had there before. It’s a great size and actually holds all of our electronics! It’s a nice addition to our built-ins for my fall home tour.ย White built-ins with accessories for the fall season

Fall FoliagePlacing a vase on a coffee table

You certainly don’t need fall leaves on every surface to welcome the new season. Instead, I was strategic with my fall florals and foliage.ย Clear vase with fall leaves and branches

My large vase is one area I always change up for the season. Usually, it holds a few branches with white flowers on them (very simple and works for the everyday). Last year, I filled this clear vase with wheat for the fall season, but it ended up being a bit of a mess (those branches shed everywhere. Ugh!). use fall branches to add some seasonal decorThis year, I opted for these branches from Michaels. I love how they make a statement right at our entryway! I also love the idea of snipping some branches or leaves for free decor.ย White florals for fallThis black pitcher usually holds faux eucalyptus, but I filled it with some off-white florals (again from Michaels). This small tweak was super easy, didn’t cost very much, and makes our coffee table feel more like the fall season.

Warm TextilesUse cream and dark red pillows for fall

Our gray couch usually showcases pillows that are dark gray, black, white, or navy. But I’m reallllly loving these warm hues right now. The off-white pillow was on clearance at Rejuvenation and I got the lumbar from Pottery Barn.ย Fall home tour in the living room

Usually,ย  I would be very afraid of adding the color red to my space, but I think the muted tone and gorgeous pattern works well.ย Cozying up for fall with a blanket and a good book

And as I mentioned in this post, I found this textured throw blanket on eBay and it’s the coziest thing ever. The knit texture and cute pom poms add so much comfort to our family room (or patio if we’re hanging out there!)

Candles…Everywhere!Fall candles on the dining room table

On my dining room table, I added a small plant from Trader Joe’s and my easy sock candle (have you made one yet?!). I’ve been lighting candles every night before Finn gets home from work and I love the soft glow and welcoming atmosphere they provide. I also picked up a few indoor LED candlesย and put them in a few large hurricanes around the house. I have them set to go on from 5pm -10pm and they create the perfect ambiance (plus, they signal to me that it’s just about time to quit working for the day!).

A Few PumpkinsA basket full of mini pumpkins

Okay, so I couldn’t help myself…I did add a few small pumpkins throughout. I mean, those mini ones are just too cute to pass up! I placed a few in a wicker bowl from HomeGoods on our built-ins.ย Knit pumpkin from targetAnd I also found these knit pumpkins from Target. Love the white color and subtle pattern. I’ve got one on our built-ins, and the other on our nightstand.ย fall home tour of the master bedroom
