The DIY Playbook Style Series – Cozy Sweaters

chicago_bridget_fashion_fall-sweater-coffee-fallThe DIY Playbook Style Series: Like many of you, we both strive to buy clothing that not only reflects our style, but is also comfortable, affordable, and can be worn at work AND on the weekends (did we mention we don’t want to spend a ton of money either). We know that a lot of the DIY Playbook’s readers are currently in this same exact situation, so hopefully together we can start this new journey of connecting one another with clothes (and sales!!) that make us all feel confident and comfortable. Don’t get us wrong, we are NOT fashion experts and we are not even fashion forward, just regular girls trying to have a little fun with our styles all without breaking the bank.

Besides the falling leaves, crisp air, and excuse to consume everything and anything pumpkin flavored…our favorite thing about fall is the new wardrobe that comes along with it. Jeans, boots, scarves, and chunky sweaters are some of our favorites!

Let’s chat about the last item on that fall wardrobe list. Sweaters. They’re the best aren’t they? Screw bikini body season, we’re all about sweater body season. Give us a chunky knit sweater, a slimming turtleneck, or a soft cardigan and we are in heaven. Pair these comfy sweaters with tight leggings or skinny jeans, and you’ve got yourself an adorable fall outfit.casey-sweater-scarf-fashion-7

chicago_bridget_fashion_fall-beanWe love light sweaters to pair with our favorite scarves or vests. We love turtleneck sweaters to stay warm and cozy in. We love long cardigan sweaters to dress up for work wear or weekend wear. Simply stated — you name the sweater style and we probably love it!

Today we rounded up some sweaters we’re currently eyeing or recently bought (like B’s $19 cable knit turtleneck!!) . We especially love these sweaters because we can wear them to work or on the weekends throughout fall, winter, and even into the spring! We figured if we invested in a few neutral sweaters that we LOVE this season, we will be set for the next few months as we can mix & match them with different looks all season long. sweaters-diyplaybook-style-series-49-pm

1. Button Up Grey Cardigan // 2. Cream Turtleneck // 3. Grey Light Sweater
4. Beige Sweater // 5. Grey X-Long Cardigan // 6. Cable knit Sweater (less than $20!)
7. Pleated Hem Sweater // 8. Shoulder Button Sweater // 9. Turtleneck

Forget bikini season, can it be sweater weather forever?!

A great sweater is so hard to find in my opinion. Some wear too bulky and gives me the muffin top look. Or they wear out and lose their shape after a few wears. I think I switch over to a new sweater collection each year…yes, it’s that bad. I love cowl neck sweaters, but they are hard to find.

  • Sweater Season Forever – Hooray!

I can’t wait to break out my scarves – it will be a couple more weeks here in southern California.

  • I LOVE sweater season. So much easier emotionally than bikini season, for sure. They really help me get through winter.
