Central Park FREE Watercolor Print

NYC-Watercolor-Print

Remember back in October when we jetsetted off to the Big Apple?! Well, while we were visiting NYC we had one place on the very tippy-top of our must-see list…

CENTRAL PARK! We spent a lovely morning sipping our coffees, people watching, and just strolling through the lush park. It was a glorious way to start our day and we just had to capture that exact moment so we would remember it forever. We decided to take a picture and create a watercolor print with the waterlogue app…that way we would have a visible reminder of the beautiful morning.

watercolorNYC

We’ve done a few other watercolors here on the blog before, like this Chicago skyline print and this Chicago Green River print. Both awesome art and staples in our homes. But it was nice to change it up a bit and incorporate a new city into our watercolor repertoire. Plus you guys know we love bringing home non-tacky souvenirs from our travels…and this seemed like the perfect treasure from our trip. Meet our newest Central Park FREE Watercolor Print. NYC-Watercolor-Print

The vibrant colors in the watercolor really pop against a crisp white frame, and it’s visual enough to stand on its own in a little tabletop vignette. Frame-On-DresserThe best part about this print is it is absolutely FREE. You can have this watercolor print hanging in your home in a New York minute by downloading it here and pressing PRINT. Boom instant art for your gallery wall, bookshelf, or even mix it up with other frames on a picture ledge.

Gallery-Wall-FramesWe’re very much in love with the hint of fall this print brings into our homes. If these yellowy leaves and picturesque setting don’t get you into the seasonal spirit…then heck I don’t know what will!

So let’s consider this our little trip souvenir for YOU! Whichever way you style it, we hope you enjoy our NYC memento and the instant cheer it brings into your home.Bridget and Casey Signature

Love it! This might be a dumb question…but do you print these at home? I see so many awesome printables on the web but I know my home printer (which is fairly new) wouldn’t be able to print them nearly well enough. Do people take these to Office Depot or some place? Or does everyone just have much better printers than me??

But seriously, love it. It might be worth the cost of printing at Office Depot. =)

      Diana,
Not a dumb question at all! We print ours at home directly onto card stock. I would say most printers should be able to handle it…but you just may use more ink than usual. Maybe try it on your home printer and if it doesn’t look right, bring it to Office Depot? Either way we’re happy you like the print!

      Good luck!

Laundry Room Gallery Wall Art
Yay for amazingly creative people who share their creations with the world to enjoy over & over again on the internet. I mean seriously though, I love them! It’s crazy how generous & resourceful the internet can be and how many amazing treasures you can borrow from the internet to make your home perfect for you & your style…. all free thanks to the selfless talents people share every single day! That’s pretty much exactly what I did for my laundry room gallery wall. Why go out and buy art, especially when you can’t find the perfect pieces, when you can find what you’re looking for as a free printable online?
Plus, I won’t feel bad re-doing my little wall of laundry room “happy” whenever I feel like it, as in when these bright summer colors fade into the fall.
But let’s not get a head of ourselves here, I’m still loving the bright and cheery personality these pieces bring. Here’s where I got each…
The basket may just be my favorite part of this gallery wall. I love that it adds some serious function to the wall. It is designed to hold socks that don’t have a pair at the moment- you know, those socks that had a partner when they were thrown into the wash but somehow lost their better halves along the way. #hatethat
The pink love quote was a greeting card from Target! I had it left over from this project and thought it could be a perfect fit for this colorful combo. I’m not typically someone who decorates with pink (especially for the sake of Matt), but I thought since I do most of the laundry… why not?! Plus, after our long & brutal Chicago winter, I just can’t get enough of these bright colors this Spring!
This hook also adds some serious function to the space and is so convenient on a day-to-day basis. It’s a three piece hook that I scored at HomeGoods for $5 (on sale!). I’ve been using it to hang my work blouses that can’t be put into the dryer, especially when I’m too lazy to get a hanger. It’s the perfect temporary solution when I’m in a rush and trying to change loads with little maintenance. I really do use it for at least three different shirts during most loads… it’s perfect!
You can download your own version of this laundry cheat sheet here. If you don’t like yellow, this print comes in four adorable colors. I enlarged the image and actually cut off some of the print (like the title) when I framed the chart. I thought it was a fun way to see the symbols more clearly and add a pop of laundry room color, plus I had an awkward 4×6 frame to fill and it just seemed to work. I mean how adorable are these FREE charts by Jennifer? What color do you like the best?
If you know me outside of the blog, you probably know that I love junk food- especially donuts. I have never met a donut I didn’t like love and so it’s no surprise that I adore the donut-as-decor trend that’s happening around the blogosphere. I used this adorable donut printable paired with a piece of old scrapbook paper. The printable comes with at least a baker’s dozen of colorful donuts to choose from, unfortunately, I could only fit 3 into the mix.  If you end up using these sweet prints for anything, you have to let me know!! I’d love to see how you put your own spin on them, plus, a little extra inspiration to use the rest of these donuts is much welcomed.
I’m a sucker for Sarah M. Dorsey designs… I mean seriously, her free printables are amazing, plus there are so many to choose from!! You can find this flamingo here, but wow… don’t miss out on her polka dot print, Be Amazing printable, or her super creative His & Hers frame ideas & prints!! Did I mention that she offers almost all of her free prints in a variety of colors to fit your space? Ugh…. love her!
And how stinkin’ cute are these stain removal tags? I found this free printable from the Better Homes and Gardens website. I used the yellow tags, but they come in a variety of colors and with a variety of directions for any type of stain you can imagine. Lipstick, grass, a few types of food, even wine! Such an adorable idea that can be used in all sorts of ways in the laundry room. Check out how they use them on a ring… love!

And last but very not least, I found this cheerful canvas art from Target because heck, today & everyday is a very good day! I don’t know about you, but an unexpected reminder that life really is amazing is much appreciated, especially when I’m cursing under my breath as I finish the laundry. I’m one lucky lady and have so much to be thankful for. This positive reminder makes sure I remember just that…

Plus, I can’t say no to my favorite pop of blue-y teal.
I’m so thankful for the crazy creative (and generous) people that put this amazing art on the internet for people like me to use! The color, the personality, the price tag… I love it all.
But let me ask you… where are your favorite places to get free printables?! Where do you use free art in your home? Do you change it often or is it typically there to stay? I’d love to hear from you…
In case you missed it…

Thanks @alliferg!! I found the basket randomly in the kitchen section of Burlington Coat Factory, It was originally supposed to hang over a cabinet, but I was able to take off that hardware and hang it on the wall. I found it hard to find a basket that is strictly meant for hanging on a wall, so keep your eyes peeled to turn a over the cabinet basket into one of these. Good luck!

The sock storage basket is so clever! I will definitely be adding that to our laundry room ASAP for all those unmatched partners. Love the rest of the artwork too!

Love Lyrics

Framed_Love-Lyric
It’s not even February, but the mushy-gushy-lovey-dovey Valentine’s Day blog posts have already begun. And yes, we’ve hopped aboard the love train (yup, that love train.). As we said in this post, we’re not head over heels in love with this holiday, instead we are pretty smitten with “love” all year round. Today’s project is something that is definitely fitting for that upcoming holiday, but it’s also pretty awesome for any ol’ day of the year.

We’ve created 2 FREE PRINTABLES for you guys to enjoy, each featuring “our song” with our handsome +1’s.

Love Lyrics Free Printable
Download your own FREE PRINTABLE here.
First up, Casey & Finn’s printable showcases the song “Everything” by Michael Buble. It’s been a favorite of theirs since high school and (spoiler alert!) they’ll be dancing to it at their October wedding. Like these two aren’t cute enough?! Now they get to share a first dance to a song they’ve probably been practicing since high school.

Download the FREE printable here.

Our song is “Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You” by Frankie Valli. Ironically, it was the first dance we ever danced to when we were dating, so it just seemed like the perfect choice to share our official first dance to. Plus, Matt and I like to think we’re pretty old fashioned, which seems accurately reflected in this classic.

We suggest printing out your favorite printable onto cardstock, framing it, and giving it to that special someone. Or keep it for yourself and add it to your gallery wall! Either way we know every time you look at this bad boy you’ll have one of these songs stuck in your head #sorrywe’renotsorry

Coffee for Two

Coffee-Fruit-Frame
Coffee and berries

Happy International Coffee Day! (Let’s face it…every day is coffee day for these two ladies!)

In honor of this momentous event (hey…it’s momentous to us!), we thought it would only be fitting to give you, our rock-star readers, a gift. Our gift to you: a FREE printable about one of our favorite morning rituals here on the DIY Playbook. You can print one for yourself, give one to your early morning co-worker, or even wrap one up as gift.

Coffee for two printable
We added coffee rings (just like in this coffee post) to give the printable some DIY flair.

Just brew up a batch of joe, pour a little onto a plate, and have fun making messy rings all over the paper.

Be sure to let your paper dry and then pop it into your favorite frame.

We gave a framed “Coffee for Two” as a wedding shower gift to a fellow coffee lover. We snagged the coffee pot off her registry to make this coffee themed gift complete. She got what she wanted, and we were able to add a little bit of DIY creativity. Win, win right?

Get in on the coffee action and download your free printable here.

Have a great (caffeinated) Friday!

Summer Lovin’

Oh summer…how we love you so! (and not just because one half of this rookie duo is a school teacher. Okay maybe that has something to do with it…)
Summertime is a special time. The days are oh-so-long, and the warmth and sunshine make us smile a little brighter every day.
We both have crazy times ahead of us (planning two weddings!)..so we want to make the most out of Summer 2013 and enjoy all of the laid-back memories that are bound to occur.  Since we’re big fans of lists here on DIY Playbook, we thought a SUMMER BUCKET LIST was necessary to make the most out of the next few months.
Summer Bucket List
Together we came up with a well-rounded list of activities that we feel we can accomplish before that school bell rings in the fall.
Some items on the list are summer classics
 -Make s’mores
-Host a BBQ
-Go on a bike ride…
While others have a refreshing twist
-Take an artsy photo
-Rock a sassy pair of shades
-Go an entire day without your phone <–nervous about this one.
Mason jar of markers
All of the tasks on this bucket list remind us to live in the moment and enjoy all of the joys in life…big and small.
Dry erase marker on picture frame
We both printed out the lists, framed them, and put them in prominent locations in our homes. Then all we have to do is mark off each task using a dry erase marker on the glass.
We have a few visits planned this summer, so we’re hoping we can cross of a few items off the list together during those mini vacays.  We are planning to document our Summer 2013 Bucket List on Instagram (@diyplaybook #bucketlist)..so be sure to follow us and catch up on our progress. (Don’t worry, we’ll update ya on the blog too!)
But here is the best part…we want you guys to join in on the Bucket List action! Just download the FREE PRINTABLE and get going on the fun summer activities. If you complete an activity, be sure to capture it and tag us on Instagram or Twitter @diyplaybook with the hashtag #bucketlist.
We cannot wait to have an amazing summer with our MVP readers!

Here’s a sneak peek of DIY Playbook’s Summer bucket list…

Good luck conquering the #bucketlist. Take pictures along the way, enjoy every moment, and remember to share your adventures with us by taggin @diyplaybook. Maybe your picture or adventure will make its very own appearance here on the Playbook. hint…. hint….
