Memorial Day Outfit Ideas with Marshalls

Summer is almost here…can you believe it?! It’s crazy because it feels like we didn’t have much of a spring here in Chicago, so it was a jump from winter straight to summertime! But we’ll take it!

Ready For MDW

Bridget’s been off work since Ben was born, but all good things must come to an end, right? This is B’s last week of leave and she’ll be headed back to the classroom next week. The great news is thatย she’ll only be back at school for about a six days and then… summer vacation! AND within those six days, she’s off for Memorial Day!

We’re both eager for the holiday weekend to get here, and this year we even planned ahead with Memorial Day outfit ideas! We hit up Marshalls together in search of fashion for the holiday weekend. We rarely shop together, so it was so fun to hit up the store on a random weekday (gotta love B’s maternity leave!) and hit the racks side-by-side.

And you guys know us…we are pretty basic when it comes to our wardrobes and we typically invest in classic (and very neutral) pieces. But it’s always fun to try out new fashion trends and when we do, we want those buys to come at an amazing price.

Marshalls is the perfect place to try out new trends because they always stock high-quality, on-trend pieces that don’t break the bank. And when you have yourย bestie by your side encouraging you to step out of your comfort zone when shopping, you’re bound to try some fun new items! Here’s what we ended up getting…

Bridget’s Memorial Day Outfit – Dressy

I don’t know about you guys, but I’m loving the romper/jumpsuit trend happening right now, but honestly, up until stopping at Marshalls I was perfectly fine admiring this trend from afar.

Even before baby, I never thought jumpsuits flattered my body type so you can imagine that I had zero plansย at even attempting to try one on post-baby. No way, right?! WRONG!

Casey spotted this blue jumpsuit and immediately said, “Bridget this is so you! You have to try it on”. I insisted that jumpsuits never look good on me, but my bestie is pretty convincing. So, of course, I agreed to try it on and prove that the cut of jumpsuits just never seems toย work on my frame.

Well, well, well… she proved me wrong, and I’m so glad she was there to push me wayย outside my comfort zone because magically this $19 (!!) brand name jumpsuit somehow worked at hiding all the baby secrets. And can you even believe it was $19?!

I don’t mind stepping outside my comfort zone and trying a trend like this for a price tag like that. I picked up these shoes at Marshalls too for only $39.

And because my bestie just couldn’t let me stop there, I splurged on these NINE DOLLAR sunglasses that are different from my staple aviators. And I have to give Casey credit once again because I love them and have been wearing them on repeat ever since.

I’m officially ready for a fun night out, and I’m pretty excited to step out in this trendy new piece. I don’t know if it’s the bow or wide leg,s but this magic jumpsuit feels flattering, fun, and confident. What more can you ask for nineteen bucks?!

Casey’s Memorial Day Outfit – Casual

So I’ll admit, this outfit isn’t completely out of my comfort zone. White, stripes, and tie-front detailing…it all screams “Casey Finn” to me! But it’s the backpack that I was a little nervous about…

When I’m on the go, I’m usually a crossbody bag girl all the way. Especially when hitting up food festivals and neighborhood spots in the summertime. But I love that you can be hands-free with backpacks too! When I spotted this blush bag at Marshalls, I was immediately drawn to it.ย

It has so many pockets, the blush color is subtle, and the gold detailing is super cute! Plus, it was only $34.99. I feel good about trying out a new trend when the price point is that great. I think this cute little backpack is going to come in handy this summer. Bring on all the bike riding!

The rest of this outfit is perfect for Memorial Day weekend (fingers crossed we get some nice warm weather here!).ย

I was in need of some new white shorts for summer and I was excited to find these bad boys! The button detailing on the front adds a little something extra and they have the perfect amount of stretch. Bring on the tacos at all of those street festivals.ย

This striped tie-front shirt screams summer and beach to me! I’m a sucker for those subtle stripes and I love the neckline on this. Casual, yet pulled together for a summer day.ย

I was also in need of some new sunnies for the summer. I have black sunglasses that I wear on repeat, but wanted to add tortoise frames into my rotation. These were only $16.99. Such a steal!

The only sad part is, as of now, we have zero plans for Memorial Day weekend! We still have time to plan something fun, and hopefully, it will involve a sun-filled day at the beach.

What are your plans for Memorial Day weekend? Will you be getting dressy like B, or keeping it casual like C? Or perhaps you’ll just be in a swimsuit and coverup the entire weekend (lucky you!).
