Casey’s New Leather Bench in the Master Bedroom

Iโ€™m at the point in our home journey where Iโ€™m going around my home and replacing items that I no longer love, or ones that just donโ€™t really feel like my style anymore.

Itโ€™s kinda nice to be past the decorate-an-entire-room phase because now I can be very thoughtful and intentional when replacing 1 or 2 items throughout my house. While Iโ€™ve always loved our master bedroom setup, the navy bench started to feel a bit too traditional for my current style. Plus, the top was getting pretty faded from the sun and it had seen better days.

I was able to sell my bench fairly quickly (yay for Insta Stories!) and that gave me the push I needed to replace it with something more me.

Our New Leather Bench

Thatโ€™s when I found the Tablet Ottoman from Article. Iโ€™ve been obsessed with their site ever since I added the cognac leather chair to our living room (and get soooo many compliments on it!).

I love the warmth that cognac leather brings to our living room and figured our master bedroom could use a dose of that gorgeous color. When I saw this bench on their site, I knew it was meant to be!

It arrived a few weeks later and once I put it at the end of our queen bed, it was confirmedโ€ฆI was in love. ย The buttery leather, the brass base, the lengthy size of itโ€ฆ.all absolute perfection! This leather bench is much more my style and the room benefits from the extra bit of warmth this cognac color brings to the space.

This piece is considered an ottoman/bench/coffee table because it really can work as any of those pieces. It would be cool to use this as a coffee table in front of a long couch, or maybe in a mudroom (hint, hint Bridget) for a place to sit and tie up your laces. All in all, a diverse piece that I know will come with us to our next home.

New Master Bedroom Accessories

Since I was already refreshing the space with a new bench, I also picked up a few other items for our master bedroom. These balsam green velvet pillows are to die for and theyโ€™re a great addition to this space for the holiday season.

My plan is to hang a wreath above the bed (like I did last year) and I think the wreath paired with the luxe green pillows will look so festive! Iโ€™ve never been one to swap out my bedding for the seasons, but this is my first step in that direction and Iโ€™m not mad about it.

I also picked up this wool throw from Article (which is currently on sale!) to drape at the end of the bed. But Iโ€™m not gonna lieโ€ฆitโ€™s rarely in our bedroom because Finn & I keep stealing it and bringing it out to the living room for nights on the couch. We fight over who gets to use this fuzzy blanket when watching TV at night, and luckily I usually win that one. Ha!

Itโ€™s incredibly warm and oversizedโ€ฆperfect for those cooler winter nights.

All in all, Iโ€™m pumped with these small swaps in our master bedroom. While it can be fun to decorate an entire room from scratch, Iโ€™ve been enjoying this time where I can slowly and carefully replace old items that no longer suit our home.
