Chalkboard Basket

Organizing is one thing, but staying organized is quite another. I’ve found out through the years that I tend to stay far more organized when I have a stylish organizing system. If this tendency doesn’t make sense to you, I understand. It’s bazaar, it’s illogical, but it’s what works for me. With that being said, I’m always on the look out for a stylish organizing system. The more stylish the better. That’s when I saw this trendy, yet functional, basket from Target.
Target Chalkboard Basket
This Target basket is priced at $39.99, which isn’t outrageous but is out of my price range. I continued to search for a cheaper equivalent at Marshall’s, TJ Maxx, and Home Goods but haven’t been able to find a basket that fits in my budget.

That’s until I found this gem at a local thrift store.
Thrift Store Treasure

The only problem…. it didn’t have that cute little chalkboard like Target’s did. So I was bound and determined to find myself a little chalkboard and create that fabulous Target look for much less.

Cheap Home Depot

Cue the Home Depot sale cart, like I explained in this post.

I found these two pieces of lightweight wood for under $1… Score!!

With a little chalkboard paint and an attempt at using a power drill, I did it!

Here’s my Target inspired basket for under $6 total.
Blanket Basket

I put all of our extra blankets in it and placed it next to our couch with some chalk that reads… “Cozy up Here”.

Chalkboard Basket for Less

I couldn’t be happier with this treasure! It adds organization, functionality and coziness all at the same time. The fact that this whole project costs less than $6 makes me want to cozy up there even more.
