Easy Margarita Recipe

[Disclaimer: This post is sponsored by Michaels Stores and we are honored to be Michaels Makers. All opinions and photography are our own and are not influenced by Michaels Stores]

We used to go on an annual girls’ trip to Key West when we were in college. Still to this day these trips were some of our favorites because the priority for the week usually revolved around girl talk and lots of R&R in the sun. It doesn’t get much better than that, right?! Our daily schedule usually looked a little like this:

  1. Sleep in
  2. Go on a long walk
  3. Spend the rest of the day by the pool with a margarita in one hand and a good book in the other.

Sadly, we no longer go on this annual trip, BUT we do still talk about that easy margarita recipe we enjoyed so much… mostly because those margaritas were that good.

Easy Margarita Recipe for Cinco De Mayo

Fiesta like there's no manana party

When Michaels invited us to celebrate Cinco De Mayo with them, we knew exactly what we could share — those Key West Margaritas. We are not even exaggerating when we say that these homemade margaritas are hands-down our favorites. Casey’s Aunt Paige taught us this recipe, and we’ll never forget it…because it’s so simple!

Plus, you only need 3 ingredients for this recipe! The only bad part is that they taste so good that sometimes we enjoyed them a little too much… if you know what we mean. If you’re going to try them this weekend for Cinco De Mayo, you’ll have to let us know what you think, but also be careful because they’re that good. (And that’s from two girls who hate tequila!)

Easy Limeade Margarita

Casey
This simple margarita is cool and refreshing! A perfect Cinco de Mayo drink.
Prep Time 5 minutes
Total Time 5 minutes
Course Drinks
Cuisine Mexican
Servings 4 servings

Ingredients

  • Frozen Limeade
  • 1 Light Beer any kind
  • Tequila any kind
  • Ice
  • Salt & Lime to garnish

Instructions

  • Gather all your ingredients. You can add the ice to the blender first, or at the end (like we did).
  • Pour the whole container of limeade into the blender.
  • Add the tequila. To measure, simply fill the empty limeade container with tequila. It seems like a lot of tequila (& it is!), but trust us, it will taste delicious.
  • Add one can of light beer.
  • Add the ice (if you haven't already) and blend!

Salting the Rim

  • Squeeze a wedge of lime around the rim of the glass and then dip the rim into the salt. Pour your margarita into your party-ready glass and enjoy!

After you gather all of your ingredients, you can go ahead and add your ice to the blender right away. OR, if you’re nervous about how much space you’ll need in the blender you can add the ice at the end (like we did).

Then it’s time for the first ingredient — the frozen limeade.

Now it’s time for the tequila. You can adjust the amount of alcohol you add to your margarita, but we usually fill the empty container of limeade with tequila. It seems like a lot of tequila (& it is!), but trust us, it will taste delicious.

Pour the container of tequila into the blender. Like we said before, neither of us like tequila (we actually hate it), but magically you don’t taste tequila when drinking these, which is probably why we like them so much!

Next up — one can of light beer! Sounds crazy to put a beer in a margarita but trust us, it works. Ironically Bridget doesn’t drink beer ever (she hates the taste). If you have someone in your crew who doesn’t love beer, don’t let the beer flavor scare them because you can’t even taste the beer!

If you haven’t added the ice, go ahead and fill the rest of the blender up with ice and blend all of these ingredients together. It’s seriously that easy!

Salting the Rim

Meanwhile, it’s time to dress up the rim with some margarita salt.

To get that fancy, restaurant-style look, squeeze a wedge of lime around the rim of the glass and then dip the rim into the salt. When you pull it out you should have a gorgeously salted rim that will have your guests seriously impressed!

Cheers!

Go ahead and pour your slushy margaritas into the glass and enjoy!

margarita fiesta!

We topped our margaritas with a slice of lime and a festive straw for a little extra pizzazz. Can you believe how easy that was?!

Fiesta Like There’s No Manana

Now let’s talk about these party details that were just as easy to throw together as the margaritas!

tips for a cinco de mayo party with margaritas

We bought everything from Michaels, including the adorable mason jar glasses (gotta love a one-stop shopping party prep)!

Bulk buys have arrived at Michaels! Now you can order in bulk online and save up to 50%. Perfect parties, classrooms, camps…you name it! Plan your next Summer party or BBQ with ease and stock up on all the elements you need now!

We paired our letter sign with this adorable cactus marquee from Michaels for a “Fiesta like there’s no Manana” theme. We love this idea for Cinco De Mayo or any taco-themed party. So easy, yet super fun!

Then we added a few pops of pink using these paper products and…… these adorable cactus plates. The plates are a heavy plastic and come in lots of different prints. They’re perfect for the upcoming patio season if you’re looking for an affordable option to dine al fresco.

Overall, we had so much fun throwing this party together and even more fun taking a trip down memory lane making with the easy margarita recipe. Once we were done shooting the pictures for this post, we both sat back, sipped away, and were instantly transported back to those college days!

If anyone decides to make this recipe this weekend, you have to let us know if you love them as much as we do. And if you do, remember… be careful. They taste so good you may want to have like 7. In that case, we can guarantee you’ll be fiesta-ing like there’s no manana. Enjoy!
