First Christmas Tree

Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree…
Traditional Christmas tree
Feast your eyes on our first Christmas tree here at the Lodge! This baby tree is a hand-me-down tree from my childhood that always seemed soooo much larger than it did when I dug it out of my parent’s crawlspace this year. Although I was surprised by its size or lack of for that matter…I wouldn’t have it any other way for our first Christmas tree. Plus, I needed far fewer accessories to dress-up this mini-tree, which is perfect for our first at-bat with this tradition.

Our Very First Christmas Tree

Gold Ornaments
This year, Matt and I went with the traditional red-green-and-gold look. I hope to change it up each year, but the “traditional” colors seem to fit the bill for our first Christmas in our home. Tradition seems like the perfect theme this holiday season, a time where Matt and I have started our own traditions… together.
Gifts
I scored all of the ornaments and gold accessories for under $15 at estate sales and garage sales this past summer! Although it’s hard to get yourself motivated to buy holiday decor during the summer- it’s so worth it… trust me! Come December, you’ll be happy you did. And for less than $15 invested in this year’s tree, I don’t feel as guilty changing up the “look” next Christmas. Hopefully, there are some tree trimmings and holiday treasures sprinkled throughout this summer’s estate sale circuit. #ChristmasinJuly
Holiday Tree
For our first attempt at this whole Christmas tree thing, I’m very happy with our mini Christmas tree and so grateful that a little piece of my childhood snuck into this new chapter of my life.
