New Year’s Outfit Inspiration For a Night In or Out

And just like that, we’re a few days away from Christmas and then a stone’s throw away from 2018. Wow, 2017 flew on by!Prepping for the new year with champagne!

At this time last year, we were gearing up for our couples’ trip to Mexico for New Year’s! It was definitely a fun way to ring in 2017 and how we wish we could be back in the warmth all together celebrating.ย NYE light up marquee sign

This year, neither of us have set plans for NYE, but we do have some New Year’s outfit inspiration to share with you today.

New Year’s Outfit Inspiration

We decided to showcase two different New Year’s outfits…one for a night out on the town, the other for a night in.

A Night Out – Casey

Okay, I must admit…we have zero plans for New Year’s Eve. In fact, I feel like that is the case pretty much every year! I loved going on vacation for NYE last year because it meant we already had set plans for this holiday. One year we even had a wedding to attend on New Year’s Eve, which was great because our entire night was planned out, plus we still got to get all dressed up.ย New Year's Outfit ideas

Left to our own devices, Finn and I are often scrambling last-minute to find fun plans. Only to discover that the night becomes incredibly expensive, or you can’t get in somewhere, or (the worst) you can’t seem to hail a cab anywhere! Yeah, NYE is typically not my favorite holiday.New Year's Outfit ideas

But I do love a good excuse to get dolled up and hit the town with my guy. My hope is this year we can do the best of both worlds…make late reservations for a yummy dinner (so we can get dressy), and then come on home so we can cheers on our couch at midnight. Fingers crossed we can get it all planned out in time. Or get reservations somewhere…New Year's Outfit ideasOnce we get those plans squared away, I have the perfect New Year’s Eve outfit…this black romper ensemble! I actually got this romper last year and have only worn it a handful of times. It’s a shame because it’s the comfiest thing ever, the scalloped details are perfection, and it’s oh so flattering! And pockets….guys, it has pockets!New Year's Outfit ideas

Excuse the boob shot, but aren’t these scallops so cute? While the romper is a bit sexy, the sweet scallops keep it from feeling too risque. It’s the best of both worlds…sexy and sweet!New Year's Outfit ideas

I paired it with my favorite leopard clutch (this one is similar), these new tassel earrings, and my new black heels. The thick heel on these bad boys makes them a lot more comfortable than any other black heels I’ve worn in the past. A definite perk if you plan to be dancing all night! Plus, they’re less than $100 which isn’t bad for classic heels.ย New Year's Outfit ideas

While Nordstrom no longer carries this exact romper, I found it at Saks off Fifth in the color Navy! The brand is French Connection if you want to search for it online too.ย New Year's Outfit ideas

While I absolutely hate wearing a romper when it’s time to pee (seriously the worst), I love that it’s all one piece. Makes getting ready super easy. This one is super cute and I how fun is this jumpsuit?!

Now, let’s just hope I can make some plans in time to wear my New Year’s outfit! It’s all ready for a night out on the town!

A Night In – Bridget

To be perfectly honest, I’ll be LUCKY if I make it up to see the NYC ball drop, let alone when the clock strikes midnight here in Chicago! So while Casey is looking adorable in her sexy romper, you will find me cuddled up at home (and loving every minute of it!).

Cozy night in new years outfit

I’m not a big drinker, and I’m definitely a morning person over a night owl, so New Year’s Eve has never been one of my favorite holidays. Being pregnant this year is the perfect excuse to skip the festivities and you won’t find me complaining about that! Hot Chocolate + PJ’s + watching all the NYE specials on TV sounds like the perfect night to me.

Maternity Joggers // Maternity T-Shirt // Cardigan

Speaking of cozy, we have to chat about this cardiganย I recently scored for under $30! It’s non-maternity and SO soft. Plus it comes in a few more colors, which I’m strongly considering adding to my wardrobe since I love this one so much. Plus, long cardigans have been my go-to item for work, weekend, and bumming around the house throughout the past few months!

Cozy night in new years outfit

I’ve been trying to purchase items that I can wear after my pregnancy (like all the cardigans I can get my hands on), but I’ve also bought a few maternity staples to get me through the next couple of months. I bought these maternityย joggers for under $30 and have gotten a ton of use out of them!ย ย Cozy night in new years outfit

And the wardrobe staples I have gotten the most use out of (hands down) are my collection of maternity tees that I wear with just about everything. I bought these tees in basically every neutral color I could find and wear them at least 6 out of 7 days of the week. Whether with cardigans, full sweaters, around the house, or even working out… they have been the best investment I’ve made so far and make maintaining a maternity wardrobe super easy and affordable.

Cozy night in new years outfitI have a feeling 2018 is going to be our most exciting year yet and I can’t wait to ring it in from our new home… even if it means in pajamas without any furniture upstairs!

What are your NYE plans?! Will you be out on the town like Casey or bundled up inside like me? Either way, we hope it’s exactly where you want to be. Until then, we have ten more days to end 2017 with a bang!
