We are here with a special weekend post for you guys. By now you’ve probably heard ALL about the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. It’s probably all over your social media accounts and on your favorite blogs. We get it…it can be overwhelming (& maybe even slightly annoying?) to see all of this shopping chatter all over the place.

But there truly are some great deals to be had, and while we’re not huge shoppers (our closets are just too small!) we do always tend to pick up a few classic & quality pieces for the fall season. So as we dive into the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale here on the DIY Playbook, we aren’t encouraging you to go out and clear the bank account. Instead, we’re all about intentionally choosing a few pieces that you need AND on sale.

What is the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale?

Instead of a typical end of the season sale, the Nordstrom sale is actually a sale on all of the items currently coming out in the fall. So everything is new and showcases the trends you’ll be seeing over the next few months.

And even though it’s July…these are all deals on fall staples (like our favorite Hunter Boots!). Think boots, jeans, sweaters. It can be hard to get in the mindset of cooler weather, but it actually gets us kinda excited for the brisk fall days ahead! We both go through our closets and make a note of what we will need for the season ahead…that way we go in with a plan of attack.

What’s Early Access?

Right now is “Early Access” for all Nordstrom card holders. If you have a Nordstrom card, you can shop the sale right now. Or if your friend/mom/sister has a card…you can sweetly ask to shop together to get your hands on the deals right now (#sneakysneaky).

If not, you can wait until it opens to everyone on July 21st. Things sell out fast, so having a gameplan is key! The sale will then go until August 6th.

What We’re Loving

Like we said, this is an awesome time to stock up on staples for your wardrobe. We aren’t usually people who buy just to buy, so we try to be really intentional when shopping this sale. Which can be super hard since there are some great deals to be had! We’re each assessing what we need this fall and making a specific game plan so we only buy what we need.

Sweaters

It’s hard to imagine wearing a cozy sweater when the temps are currently in the 80’s, but some of these are just so good. Love that the slouchy sweather look is in, along with the big drapey cardigans. Bridget loves her gray Madewell cardigan, so this one marked down from $98 to $64.90 seems like an awesome deal! Or this one is similar but only for $32! And we really have our eyes on this one, but we anticipate it’s going to sell-out fast!

Boots

The Chicago winter is always super harsh on our boots, and we find ourselves replacing them about every other season. So the Nordstrom sale is always a good time to stock up…even if we have to keep them in our closet for a couple more months. Their selection of both over-the-knee boots AND booties is SO good and are seriously marked down!

These waterproof shoes from Blondo seem perfect for getting through the cold months in style! Also can’t go wrong with Hunter boots for rainy days and they’re a great deal at $130! And these OTK boots have us hoping we can pull of that trendy look this fall (I mean can you even believe the detailing on those? Heart eyes all the way!)

Athleisure

When we’re not at work, you can usually find us in athleisure. There are some great deals on leggings if you need some new go-to ones. Loving these gray ones marked down to $33! You’ll always find us wearing either black or gray sneakers because they go with anything. These Nikes are almost $40 off!

Jeans

Now that the big 3-0 is quickly approaching for us both, we think it’s time to invest in at least 1 “designer” pair of jeans. These slimming ones from Rag & Bone look incredible on and make you feel like a skinny mini. Yes please! If those are outside your budget, these ones look amazing at only $60!

Accessories

We’ve both always had our eyes on the Madewell tote, and now that it has both black & brown…it just might have to be our work & school bags for the fall! Plus this classic bag NEVER goes on sale so now is definitely the time to splurge if you’re interested. This bracelet is similar to the one Casey wears every single day..and for $30 off it’s a pretty good deal for an everyday piece!

Holy smokes…are your eyes crossing just yet?! We know it is overwhelming, but hopefully this is a start to try and help you find some items that you just might want to add to your fall shopping list! We did buy a few items on the first day of the sale, so next week we will definitely share our finds right here on the blog. Plus we’ll be sharing dressing room details like sizing suggestions based on what we tried on.
