A Few Condo Updates…

Now that our master bedroom is done, it’s time to show you guys what we’ve been up to in other parts of the condo…5-bar-cart-in-window-001

We got a new bar cart for Christmas and we are both in love with it. Our old one was a $20 flea market find, and it had a good run but it was definitely time for an upgrade. That thing was super wobbly..every time you made a drink the entire cart would jiggle back and forth. Not a great quality for a piece of furniture holding lots of glass and breakables. #ruhroh1-bar-cart-living-room

This new one sits in the family room by the window, but I rolled it over to a wall so you can get a better look at it. I love how big it is, because now it can hold just about all of our drinking essentials.Β 2-cocktail-coasters2-glass-decanters-bar-cart

It also holds all of our wine glasses, which freed up lots of kitchen cabinet space.Β 5-finns-gin-alcohol-bar6-bar-cart-accessories-wine-glasses4-fresh-flowers-straws

The cart fits perfectly in our window nook, but if we need to move it for a party (or for our Christmas tree), we just roll it on over somewhere else. Very convenient.

Next to the bar cart is our fireplace area, which I’ve been working to spruce up. I got this mirror from Ikea (another Christmas gift….Santa was good to me this year!), and it’s wonderful to have right by the front door. Gotta check yourself out before leaving the house, right?!8-fireplace-mantle-living-room

In the mirror reflection is a little sneak peek of the other side of the room. I can’t wait to show you guys our new built-ins in the family room. Still working on a few more updates for the space before I share it all!dinner-bell-kitchen

One more fun addition…we hung a dinner bell in the kitchen. Isn’t it adorable? I don’t know what made me want a dinner bell, but once I got the idea in my head I just couldn’t shake it!

The silver matches with our new kitchen island pendants, and I just love how shiny and pretty it is.Β 1-kitchen-condo-dinner-bell3-ringing-the-dinner-bell-kitchen

Finn (the chef in our household) loves to ring it whenever dinner is ready. Even after having it for about a month, I still think it’s hilarious every time he rings it. I’m not so sure our neighbors agree…

So there you have it…a few new items around here. It’s crazy how adding just a couple of things to your home can make it feel so different. Baby steps, people!casey_sig

  • Alysia @ Slim Sanity

That dinner bell is awesome. And hilarious. Kyle would definitely use it too!!

  • Love the dinner bell idea! Cooking forward to seeing your built ins!!!

    • Thanks Diana! I’m gonna take pictures of them this weekend, so it will be on the blog soon πŸ™‚

  • Your bar cart is beautiful! I just have an IKEA kitchen cart turned bar cart so it may be time for me to upgrade as well. πŸ™‚

    • Thanks so much! Yeah our old one was getting a bit too wobbly so it was time!

  • Summer Hogan

Love it all! That bar cart is great! I have a dinner bell just like that but I took it down because little man got too carried away ringing it all the time and it was loud lol! Love the nostalgia though!

  • I love that mirror! I grew up in the country and my mom had a ginormous schoolhouse bell that she’d ring for us to come back to the house for dinner haha

  • Trang

I’ve been searching for the perfect bar cart for my space in my home as well. I’ve even considered building one since Pinterest offers a few DIY plans. However, it’s a bit chilly out right now to be working in my garage so it may have to hold off until spring unless I find the perfect one before then. I can’t wait to see the rest of the space (and your built-ins). It’s all coming together so nicely Casey!

    • Thanks so much Trang! You should totally build one…that would be awesome and you could pat yourself on the back every time you make a drink πŸ˜‰ Let us know how it goes.

  • One of our local California restaurants has a bell like that! Customers ring it on their way out to let the staff know their meal was delicious!

    • That is hilarious! Maybe I should do that to Finn when I like what he made for dinner πŸ˜‰

  • Brenna McConaughey

Where did you find those decanters? They are lovely!

    • Thanks so much Brenna! We’ve kinda just collected them throughout the years from various estate sales, thrift stores, flea markets! Always a fun game to find new ones with my husband. Plus makes your liquor look much fancier πŸ™‚
