Condo Makeover Inspiration

Remember when we chatted about Maggie’s Condo Makeover?

MaggieWell, Maggie handed over creative control to Casey and me (more on that here) and we are knee-deep in the planning process. Although we have “control” over the makeover, we still wanted to make sure the new place oozed Maggie’s style and was a place she was super excited to come home to and super proud to call HOME.

So before we made any decisions, we worked with Maggie to identify her style, which was not as easy as it sounds since Maggie didn’t really know her home decor style. As Maggie struggled identifying her style, we quickly realized that identifying “YOUR STYLE” is tough!! I mean heck, if both of us had to start from scratch in a new place, we would probably struggle too…. and we love home decor. So we decided that maybe Maggie isn’t the only one who could use a few tips and tricks to help identify her style and that maybe we should post about the process. That’s coming soon…

Today, we’re skipping straight to the style we came up with (with Maggie’s help) and the inspiration we’re using for this makeover.

Maggie's Makeover

We’re working with lots of neutrals and mid-century inspired furniture here. We’re actually partnering with the amazing Wayfair for most of the furniture items, which we’re SUPER excited about! Their selection is a-m-a-z-i-n-g and all of the pieces are mailed straight to Maggie’s place. With the help of my amazing dad, the previously green walls are now a gorgeous gray… Benjamin Moore’s San Antonio to be exact. Choosing the “perfect” paint color for this space was also a challenge, but we’re super excited with the results. <– More on that process coming soon too!

This condo makeover has really opened our eyes on how tough the home decor process can be when you’re starting from scratch, aren’t too sure what your “style” is, and have no clue how to put it all together after you do finally decide. We’re hoping to use this adventure to chat about some of these challenges here on the DIY Playbook over the next month or so. We’re thinking each week we’ll check-in with makeover details, and more importantly, try to provide a few tips to make this daunting process a little less scary/stressful/intimidating/frustrating. Because let’s be honest, buying and decorating a new place should be an exciting time of your life!!
