Trying Out the LifeStraw Water Dispenser: My Honest Thoughts
Disclaimer: This post is sponsored by LifeStraw, but all opinions are my own.
In an effort to be more conscious about what we’re putting into our bodies, I’m trying out a new-to-me home water dispenser. Here’s how I tested it out and my honest review.
I’ll admit, water filters haven’t exactly been a priority in my house. We’ve always just used tap water from the sink – no filters, no frills – and perhaps not the best water taste. The last time I used a water filter was back in college with a basic water filter pitcher. (And it always seemed to be empty!)
But now, with kids, I’ve been thinking more about the water we drink daily.
I’ve always been intrigued by LifeStraw. You’ve probably seen their straw that lets you drink straight from a pond or stream. It’s one of those products that makes you stop and think, “Whoa, how does that even work?” I actually just added one to our home emergency kit, and it’s such a genius product.

So when I found out that LifeStraw makes a large water filter dispenser for everyday use, I figured it was time to give it a try.
Putting It to the Test
Of course, I couldn’t just pour regular tap water into the LifeStraw Home Dispenser to see what it could do. I wanted proof that it really eliminates all of the bad stuff.

So, I had my kids go outside, scoop up dirt, and add it to a pitcher of water. It felt a little crazy, but hey, this is the brand that claims you can drink from a pond, right?

I poured the dirty water into the dispenser, and the LifeStraw membrane microfilter and activated carbon filter got to work. And what were our test results? Clear, delicious water, free from chlorine, lead, and other tap water contaminants.

The kids were blown away too. It turned into a fun little science experiment that ended with everyone grabbing their own cups of water.
Encouraging Independence for the Kids
One unexpected bonus of using the LifeStraw Home Water Filter Dispenser has been how much my kids love it. The one-hand tap makes it easy for them to fill up their own cups and water bottles, which has been a win for everyone. I don’t have to constantly play bartender, and they love the independence of being able to do it themselves.
It has also encouraged them to drink more water throughout the day, which I count as a parenting win. They’re in charge of setting the table for dinnertime and filling up the water cups is always a time-consuming task. Now, they can get all of our cups filled up quickly and easily!
Why I Finally Made the Switch

As much as I love our tap water’s convenience, learning more about what’s actually in it was eye-opening. The LifeStraw Home High-Capacity Water Filter Dispenser removes over 30 contaminants and meets NSF certifications, meaning it’s held to the highest standards of water filtration.
It removes bacteria, lead, microplastics, PFAS, and E. coli. It also keeps the good stuff, like essential minerals magnesium and potassium, which improve the taste and add health benefits.

The dispenser itself is super sleek and fits right in on our countertop. It’s made with BPA-free plastic, and there’s a wooden stand (sold separately) that adds a stylish touch.
I like the stand because our glass cups can easily fit under it, so I can push the dispenser back on our counter and it doesn’t have to be on the ledge. Plus, that sleek design goes with the rest of our kitchen decor. No one wants something clunky and ugly wasting precious counter space!
With a 35-cup capacity, it’s great for our family because we don’t have to refill it constantly.
Perfect for Hosting

Another thing I’m excited about is using it for hosting. We have our neighbors over a lot and we go through so many single-use plastic water bottles. Now, my plan is to set this up in on the counter of our new outdoor kitchen, with cups right next to it. Plus, using the dispenser has helped us reduce water bottles, which is a small but meaningful win for our family’s environmental performance.
I’ll also be whipping this out for book club. Yes, our drink of choice is typically wine, but let’s be honest… drinking more water on our girls’ nights is probably a good idea!
A Brand That Cares

Finally, I’m all about supporting and promoting brands with a mission. For every product sold, LifeStraw provides a child with an entire year of safe water—over 11 million kids have benefited so far. I believe safe drinking water is a fundamental right and I adore this mission.
LifeStraw is a Climate Neutral Certified Brand and a B Corp, so they’re not just focused on making great products with better technology; they’re also committed to doing good in the world. Yes, yes, yes!

I certainly appreciate the sustainable materials and thoughtful design of the dispenser. You can also try out the LifeStraw home pitcher if you don’t love the taste of your tap water. This smaller pitcher is a good way to tip-toe into trying out this brand.

It’s practical, stylish, and most importantly, it gives me peace of mind knowing we’re drinking safer water. Plus, it’s been a fun way to get the kids excited about something as simple as drinking water.
