Thanks for all of your love on last week’s bathroom refresh reveal! It’s crazy how a few small changes can make such a huge difference in a room. There is no need to spend tons of time or money on every room in your house. Those little tweaks can really go a long way! I ended up using budget-friendly lighting in the bathroom space which kept the entire refresh affordable. Between this overhead fixture at only $62 and this vanity light at $192, I was pretty proud of these awesome choices from Lowe’s!
When searching for those fixtures, I stumbled across a lot of amazing lighting options and figured I would share all of those with you today. I’m breaking the categories down into sconces, vanity lights, and overhead lighting that would work well in a bathroom space (but a lot of these can translate to just about any room in your house!). But before we get to my favorite budget-friendly lighting options, let’s quickly discuss a few “rules” for choosing lighting.
Tips for Mixing Metals in a Bathroom
The most common question I receive when discussing lighting is mixing metals in a space. It’s a-okay to mix metals in a bathroom! In fact, I would urge you to have at least two finishes. In my bathroom refresh, I have a mix of brass and black matte in there for a layered look. Here are some quick tips to live by when it comes to mixing and matching finishes in a bathroom (or really any space!).
- Black goes with just about everything!
- Choose a dominant metal and make sure it’s spread around the room evenly. Then, choose your accent metal.
- Don’t mix two metals in the same color family (i.e. don’t do both shiny gold and aged brass or shiny chrome and satin nickel).
- Keep it to 2-3 different finishes in a bathroom. Any more than that and the room will feel disjointed.
My Favorite Budget-Friendly Lighting
With those tips in mind, let’s take a look at the super affordable options I found from Lowe’s Home Improvement.
All of these sconces are ridiculously affordable. Ranging from$27 (#11) at the lowest end to #8 at $124 on the high-end. I can personally attest to the amazing quality of #4, as we used that in my mom’s bathroom refresh. It is such a gorgeous sconce for a jawdropping price tag! And #3 is super similar to the lights we installed in our master bathroom over our mirrors (horizontally like a vanity light!).
Affordable Vanity Lights
I used #6 in our bathroom refresh and it’s absolutely gorgeous in person (especially with our sage green walls). I’m also really digging #10 for a more traditional look and #2 for something more simple and basic.
Affordable Overhead Fixtures
I used #10 in our bathroom and I’m really loving the old-school vibes from this fixture. Plus, it’s the perfect mixture of black and brass. #2 is such a fun little fixture that would look cute in a hallway, bathroom, or closet. And I’m really digging the texture on #8…simple, yet it adds a little something extra (plus, only $44)!
Upgrade Your Home Lighting
Switching out a light fixture is a total DIY project (here’s a tutorial) and there’s no need to call an electrician. Just follow the directions and turn off the power to be extra safe. I urge you to take a look at the various light fixtures around your house and make a plan to upgrade at least one of them that you’re not in love with! I’m telling ya…you can make a huge difference in the look of a space without spending a ton of cash. I love when that happens!
Any favorites from the mood boards above? There are so many good ones and it is so awesome that most are under $100.Casey
