Your Home Playbook Is Officially Available for Preorder!
Today is a day I’ve been dreaming about for a year and a half. Your Home Playbook is officially available for preorder, and I can’t wait to finally share the resource I wish someone had handed me the day we bought our first house.
Before I say anything else, thank you. So many of you have followed this project from the very beginning. You’ve listened to me talk about photo shoots, deadlines, edits, cover designs, and all the little milestones along the way. There were definitely moments where this book felt like it would never actually be finished, so getting to finally say, “You can order it today,” feels pretty surreal.
I’ll also admit…this part feels a little vulnerable. For the last 14 years, I’ve shared everything I know for free. That’s always been the heart of The DIY Playbook. So asking you to buy something I created feels different. Exciting? Absolutely. But also a little scary.
Whenever I start getting in my head about it, I come back to the reason I wanted to write this book in the first place. I didn’t set out to write a book just to write a book. I wrote it because I remember exactly what it felt like to buy our first house and realize we had absolutely no idea what we were doing.
Nobody hands you a manual. You get the keys, move your furniture in, and somehow you’re supposed to know how often to change your air filter, when to clean your dryer vent, what projects you can tackle yourself, and which ones are better left to a professional. That’s the problem I wanted to solve.
I really do believe this book will be incredibly helpful to everyone who reads it.
What’s Inside Your Home Playbook?

I didn’t want to write a book you read once and then forget about.
I wanted to create the resource you reach for all year long. The one you pull off the shelf when your dryer starts making a weird noise, when you’re planning a bathroom renovation, or when you suddenly realize you have no idea when you last changed your furnace filter.
You’ll Never Wonder, “What Should I Be Doing This Month?” Again
One of the hardest parts of homeownership isn’t actually doing the maintenance—it’s remembering what needs to be done in the first place.
That’s why the book is organized month by month. Instead of one giant, overwhelming list, you’ll have a manageable plan that walks you through the year, one month at a time.
You guys know I’m a type-A girly, so this is the system I’ve built to stay on top of the never-ending list of home tasks. Breaking it down into a monthly cadence makes it much more manageable. Trust me.
No More Googling Your Way Through Every Project

We’ve all been there. You realize something around the house needs attention, so you open fifteen browser tabs trying to figure out where to start. I wanted this book to be the first place you look.
Every tutorial includes step-by-step instructions, supply lists, and full-color photos (thanks to my bestie, Bridget!) so you know exactly what you’re doing before you ever pick up a tool.
Bigger Projects Don’t Have to Feel So Intimidating

Maybe you’re thinking about replacing flooring. Remodeling a bathroom. Hiring a contractor for the first time. Those projects can feel overwhelming before they even begin.
That’s why part two is all about renovations—how to budget, hire the right people, stay organized, and decide what’s worth DIYing and what’s better left to the pros.
My Favorite Part: The Home Diary

When I first started outlining this book, I knew I wanted homeowners to have one place to keep all of the information that somehow ends up scattered across junk drawers, random notes in your phone, and old emails. Things like…
- Paint colors
- Appliance model numbers
- Warranty information
- Insurance details
- Contractor contacts
- Renovation records
- Product purchases
- Emergency information
Originally, I tried squeezing these pages into the book itself, but the more I worked on it, the more I realized people would want to use it differently. Some would want to type into it. Others would want to print fresh copies every few years. So instead, every copy of Your Home Playbook includes access to the downloadable Home Diary that you can use however works best for you.
You can fill it out digitally or print it and keep it in a binder. It’s designed to grow with your home over the years, and it’s one of the parts of this project I’m most excited about.
Already Own the Digital Guide?

I’ve been getting this question a lot, so I wanted to answer it here. First…thank you. The response to the digital guide I launched a few years ago completely exceeded my expectations. What started as a simple Google Doc quickly showed me that homeowners were looking for something much bigger.
The digital guide answered one question: What should I do this month? This book answers so many more.

| Basic task list | ✔ Step-by-step tutorials with photos |

The digital guide was the beginning. This book is what I always hoped it would become.
Frequently Asked Questions

Who is this book for?
Anyone who owns a home. Whether you just bought your first house or you’ve been a homeowner for twenty years, this book is designed to help you stay organized, keep up with maintenance, and feel more confident taking care of your home.
Is this book for me?
If you’ve ever found yourself wondering…
- “Am I forgetting to maintain something?”
- “Can I tackle this myself?”
- “Where did I save that paint color?”
- “Who was the electrician we used?”
- “What should I even be doing this month?”
…then yes. I wrote this book for you.
Is this just for DIYers?
Not at all. You don’t have to renovate your own kitchen to get value from this book. It’s just as much about understanding your home, knowing what needs attention, and making informed decisions as it is about DIY. Most of the projects in this book take less than 10 minutes and are marked “easy” on the difficulty scale.
Is the Home Diary included?
Yes! Every book includes access to the downloadable Home Diary, which you can fill out digitally or print and keep with your important home documents.
Is this a good gift?
I think so! Whether it’s a first-time homeowner, newlyweds, a family moving into a new home, or someone who’s been putting off learning the basics, my hope is that this becomes the resource they reach for again and again.
When does it come out?
Your Home Playbook will be released on January 12th, 2027, but you can preorder your copy today from your favorite retailer.

If you’ve been thinking about picking up a copy, preordering is one of the best ways to support the book. Early orders help show bookstores and publishers that there’s excitement around a new release, which can lead to more copies on shelves and help even more homeowners discover it.
Thank You

This book has been a huge part of my life for the last year and a half, and it’s strange (in the best way) to finally send it out into the world.
My hope isn’t that you read it cover to cover in one weekend. My hope is that two years from now there are sticky notes tucked between the pages. That you’ve checked off every item on the monthly maintenance list at least once. That the Home Diary is filled with notes about your own house. And that the next time something goes wrong, your first thought isn’t, “I have no idea where to start.”
Instead, I hope you reach for this book. Because that’s exactly why I wrote it.
If you’d like to support the book, I’d be so grateful if you’d preorder a copy today.
