While we’re obsessed with how the floors and the tile walls look in our bathroom…we were so eager to actually fill our new bathroom with functional items. Nope, we’re not quite to the toilet or shower stage, but guys…we finally have our vanity installed! So while you can’t use the bathroom, you can still wash your hands in here. And we’re considering that a big win. 

This was my first time installing a vanity, and I was a bit nervous to tackle this project. But let me just say from the start…it was so incredibly easy. The tiling took 5x longer than expected, whereas installing the vanity was 5x faster than expected! Finn and I were able to get it all set up in a few hours and it was absolutely glorious!

So if you have an ugly vanity in your bathroom, here is your push to install a bathroom vanity that you do love. You can definitely get this DIY done in a weekend, and you don’t need many supplies at all. And to make things really easy on you, I created a video tutorial outlining the steps to install a bathroom vanity in your own home.

Our Bathroom Vanity – Details

Here is the exact vanity that we chose from Lowe’s Home Improvement. It’s the 30″ version with a white oak base and Carrara marble top. When I saw it online, I knew it would be perfect in our new bathroom. We definitely needed something with storage, and I love that this has both cabinets and a drawer. Our last vanity just had a large cabinet underneath, so it was difficult to keep organized. This one is much better with the 2 compartments. Plus, it’s a soft close which feels extra luxurious!

Customizing our Bathroom Vanity

The vanity comes with the base and the top, but it doesn’t come with a faucet. I actually loved that because I wanted to customize that aspect of the vanity. Because our shower hardware is matte black, I chose this matte black faucet for the sink area. 

As soon as we installed it, I was in love. I love the crisp black next to the marble and the white subway tile. It’s classic and gorgeous. Plus, the faucet was incredibly easy to install and you just follow the instructions that come with it. You’ll see in the video that you should try to install the faucet before you put the top on the base of the vanity. That way it will be easy to get underneath to hook it all up!

I also swapped out the hardware on the vanity with these pulls. Because we went with a gold mirror (more details on that next week!), I wanted to have the gold handles complement them. I love mixing metals in the space and in here we’ll have matte black (faucet, shower fixtures), gold (mirror & handles), and brushed stainless steel (shower door & light fixture). 

I also decided to forego the marble backsplash on this vanity. Because we have the white subway tile, the wall is protected. Plus, I think it looks even more custom without the backsplash piece. But the question is…what should I do with this long thin piece of marble? It’s really pretty and I want to come up with a cool DIY for it. Any ideas?!

What Now?
