Black & White Powder Room Makeover

Cue the confetti, it’s time to reveal our powder room makeover! After living without this half-bath off the kitchen for far more time than I care to admit, we are more than ready to check this project off our 2019 Home Goals List.

From the demo, to the tile, to the board and batten, the paint and even the new plumbing fixtures, we DIY-ed every step of this 20 square foot water closet. It’s come along way, hasn’t it?! And even though this space is pretty tiny, I’m so happy with the amount of style we were still able to squeeze in here.

Since there isn’t too much more “information” to cover in here, I’ll share a source list of everything and lots of eye candy for today’s reveal.

I didn’t set out to create a black & white bathroom. In fact, I originally wanted to add a bold wallpaper in here (remember this post?)! But after seeing the kitchen come together, the design plan evolved into a black and white space that would pair well with the kitchen. Plus, I was a little nervous about using wallpaper over our very imperfect plaster walls.

Since this space is right off of the kitchen (and can be seen from the mudroom), I’m really happy with the black and white vibes. This is a great starting point and one I can inject color into as my style evolves or the seasons change. Not that there’s much room for “adding” but the space under the sink or over the toilet can easily be swapped out for a refresh some day.

Before & After

This space has come a looooong way and the new look is much more my style. Plus, it flows well with the rest of the black and white color palette in our home. So let’s check this bathroom off the to-do list because I don’t anticipate making any changes for a long, long time. I’m just grateful to be at this point… even if it took 5 months!

Oh, and I’ll be back with one more post for this room next Monday. I’m sharing how I created that cute first aid box for $1!
