Shopping for Neutral Modern Art
We are making lots of progress on the modern master bedroom we’re decorating for Casey’s brother, Ryan. To catch you up…check out some of these past posts.
Okay, now that you’re on track let’s get to today’s post. Now that a majority of the furniture is in place, it’s time for the fun part…THE ACCESSORIES! We’ve slowly been accumulating contemporary accessories to add to this space, and we’re trying to be really “choosy” as to what we bring into the room. We can’t have this modern space looking too cluttered, instead minimalistic is the feel we’re going for.
As of now, the walls are a bit bare and this space could definitely use some wall art. Specifically, we like the idea of putting 2 horizontal frames on the wall by the bathroom entry (in between the door on the left and the closet on the right, in the above photo). We would place these one on top of the other. Light wood frames (to bring in more warmth) and thick white mats could work perfectly.
We do believe that choosing art is a very personal experience, but we wanted to give Ryan & Sarah some curated options to choose from. We all agreed that we should stick with the modern and contemporary look, and focus on pieces that were black/white/neutral. Here are some of our top pics from Minted.
“A Classic” Photography Print

This is another special piece especially because it’s inspired by the beauty of St. Mary’s lake on the Notre Dame campus, a place where both my brother & I went to school.Shop This

Ryan & Sarah are both avid skiers, so this piece of art showcasing a snowy scene with chairlifts might be a good addition to their bedroom.Shop This
“Key Rehab” Minted Art
Ryan is a music aficionado, so I love the idea of adding a subtle nod to his hobby into their bedroom. These music keys are pretty dang cool.Shop This
We’re also considering adding a large fiddle leaf tree to the right of the window, and perhaps put a large scale vertical frame next to it on the wall. Here are some of our ideas for this large piece.
“Gentle Embrace” Painting
You can’t go wrong with black and white and this stunning painting called, “Gentle Embrace” might be a great fit for the bedroom.Shop This
“Plant Cell” Minted Art
I like this black and white art print too. A little more subtle than the first one, yet still a good hint of contemporary for this space.Shop This
“Mesmerize” Minted Art
The grays, greens, and subtle blues in this piece are stunning.Shop This
“Pushing Through” Minted Art
You know we love a hint of blush (both in our homes and clothing) and this subtle pop of pink on this piece of art is gorgeous.Shop This
“Watercolor Abstract” Minted Art
I love watercolors and this blue and green piece (with hints of black and gray) is lovely. Not too bold, but would add a hint of color to the bedroom space.Shop This
Of course, we also love the idea of framing a few black and white photographs for the room…so we may end up adding a few of those throughout the space as well. We’ll see how it all comes together. Stay tuned!
