1 Fall Blazer, 3 Ways

Last week, Casey challenged herself to get a lot more use out of the suede skirt she added to her fall wardrobe by figuring out several ways she could wear it BEFORE putting it away in her closet. That sounds so simple, but this strategy has already helped Casey get a lot more use out of her new skirt.

I never follow this method when I buy something new, but after hearing Casey rave about it, I thought I’d give it a try. And I’m here to report that I’m SO glad I did when I bought this new fall blazer because I’m already far more excited to start wearing it… on repeat.

But instead, I challenged myself to use what I already had in my closet to create several outfit options with the blazer. That’s what I loved most about this exercise.

1 Fall Blazer, 3 Ways

When I bought the new fall blazer (on sale!!) and brought it home, I immediately started trying it on with items in my closet. Like I said before, I’ve never done this, but had so much fun mixing and matching it with what I already owned.

My room was a big mess, but 15 minutes in, I had atย least 5 outfits. All of the “new” outfitsย included the new blazer and wereย ones that Iย could rotate all season long. Here are three of my favorite looks, for three very different occasions. I’m hoping that these different looks will help inspire you to try-on different outfit ideas right after bringing a new piece home. That way you don’t have to buy a ton of new items, but instead, can buy a few quality pieces and wear these pieces with items you already own. Sound like a plan?

Look One: Date Night

Before I dive into each outfit’s details, let me first start off by chatting about how comfortable this knit blazer is. It’s hard to tell in these photos but the blazer feels like you’re wearing a cozy sweater. It comes in this color and a light gray, both of which I love. ย A date night look with a fall blazer

I also love that this cozy blazer looks tailored. The cut makes it very flattering, but I would recommend sizing down if you’re going to buy this one. I’m wearing an XS, which is a smaller size than what I typically wear.ย Wearing all black with a camel blazer on top

I paired this blazer with a black tank, my favorite black jeans, and black heels for an effortless (and comfortable) night out.

Look Two: Work WearA black sheath dress with a camel blazer on top

Now let’s transition that date night piece to the office, shall we?

Iย personally hate buying clothes that will only work at the office and can’t transition to other aspects of my life. Luckily, that’s not the case for this versatile fall blazer. This piece can easily be worn well beyond my 9-5.

Look Three: Casual WeekendCasual weekend look with a fall blazer

For weekend wear, I traded in my work dress for ripped jeans, converse, and a tie-front blouse. I LOVE how this outfit is super comfortable and very casual, but it feels far more “put together” thanks to the blazer.

I still can’t believe this is the same blazer because it looks so different paired with these pieces!

This is one of the looks I probably wouldn’t have thought of if I didn’t take Casey’s advice to “test out” different looks before adding this piece to my wardrobe. After some mixing and matching, I landed on this combo and I am so glad I did because it feels very me!

1 Fall Blazer, 3 Ways

I’m officially sold on practicing this new strategy before adding new items to my closet. And I’m especially loving this 1 item, 3 ways series because it has really pushed both Casey and me to be more creative with items we already own.

How about you guys?! Do any of you guys do this before adding pieces to your wardrobe?! I’d love to hear about your experience! And if you have any items that you’d love to see on the next 3 ways post, let us know. We’d love to hear your feedback!
