Kitchen Shelves: Sneak Peek!

The last time we chatted about Maggie’s Chicago condo, we were knee deep in paint colors. Well we’re happy to report that things are moving along quite nicely in her new pad. The walls are painted, the furniture is almost in place, and we’ve started our favorite part…the styling and photographing.

The living room isn’t quite done yet (expect that full reveal NEXT WEEK), but we did officially check one space off our list…THE KITCHEN!

It no longer looks like this. In fact..it’s drastically different. A new wall color, a new cabinet color, new hardware…pretty much everything is updated and refreshed in there.

To add some more function to the space, we decided to install our favorite Ikea shelves. You know..the ones we both have in our homes?

Instead of going with stained wood, we decided to go with silver brackets and white shelves for a more sophisticated, city look.

We’re saving the big reveal of the ENTIRE KITCHEN for tomorrow, but we didn’t want to leave you completely hanging. So while hanging the shelves for Maggie, we thought it might be fun to play around with our new blogging gadget…our go pro. We set it up to capture the install of the shelves and it is hilarious.

Man oh man, if all DIY projects actually went this quickly we would get a lot more done around here!

A few tips for installation:

  • If you’re not drilling into a stud, be sure to use some heavy duty anchors
  • Start with the top shelf, so you don’t have to work over any lower ones to install them
  • A level is a must for this project…make sure the shelves are even with one another as you go, and level to the ground!
  • Pre-drill all of your holes, it will make installation that much easier!

Be sure to come back tomorrow for the full reveal of the space (and $300 worth of GIVEAWAY prizes). Until then…one more piece of eye candy…Maggie kitchen afterBridget and Casey Signature
