Adding Simple Touches of Spring & Easter Decor

Hoppy Friday, Friends! You’re probably thinking an Easter post, in February?! We hear ya, but we promise we have good reason!
Although we get A LOT of regular decor from Marshalls (especially recently for B’s built-ins!), we honestly never considered Easter items, mainly because we only “decorate” for Christmas.
But then we thought a little more about it, saw all of the cute items they have, and realized that we have gotten quite a few requests on how to add simple touches that can make a big impact for seasonal or holiday decor.
That’s when we decided that today could be the perfect opportunity to tackle this topic! We know you guys have asked for holiday decor ideas that are easy, budget-friendly, and non-cheesy (we hear ya!), and we’re confident that you’ll walk away with at least a few ideas from today’s post.
We’re applying these tips to the upcoming Easter holiday, but these simple updates can ring true for any holiday (or even season) that you want to inject into your home.
So whether you’re “some bunny” who loves to decorate for Easter or not, we hope these simple tips help inspire you to refresh your space whenever the time comes!
Make an Entrance
The easiest place to decorate for a season or holiday is your front door. Both of us have multiple wreaths that we swap out depending on the time of year. It’s always fun to grab a new wreath and proudly hang it for guests to notice right when they enter your home!
Even though the front door of our home isn’t to the outside (we live in a condo building), I still love putting a wreath on the door for all to see. The neighbors appreciate the seasonal spirit, and it’s a nice greeting for guests when they’re coming into our place.
I found this wreath from Marshalls and instantly fell in love. The white flowers with the soft green leaves are understated and gorgeous, plus it came at an amazing price (only $24.99!). A nice way to brighten up our hallway and get people excited for spring days ahead.
Incorporate Fresh (or Faux) Life
When you think of springtime, you can’t help but think of flowers and plants. When we’re itching for winter to be over (it’s never-ending here in Chicago!), we usually add some life into our homes to remind us that spring is right around the corner.
But let’s be honest, sometimes fresh plants end up in the garbage long before Easter ever arrives. So, when I spotted this faux orchid at Marshalls I knew I had to scoop it up. It was a great price and won’t ever die on me #winwin
To incorporate some color into our home, I also opted for one fresh plant too. I picked this little purple plant up from the grocery store and popped him into this pale mint canister I found at Marshalls. The original use for the jar was as a canister (with a lid) to hold items, but with the lid off it makes for a gorgeous spring pot. Now if only I can keep it alive until Easter day…
Neither of us has too much color throughout our homes (lots of neutrals going on around here), but we do like to add a touch of color during this time of year. The pastels of Easter are beautiful, so we figured now was a good time to add in those pretty hues.
If you look hard, you’ll see a pop of pink on our stove in the kitchen!
I was delighted when I saw this little teapot tucked away on a shelf at Marshalls, and was excited to put it into my cart. I’m on a blush kick lately (as evidenced by this room reveal) and this pale pink screams “Easter” to me!
After Easter is over, I’m thinking I’ll gift this gorgeous teapot to my mom since she has blush accents throughout her entire home. I’m sure she will love it!
It’s Okay to Be Punny
Bridget & I love a good pun, and while we don’t use them every day, we love to get punny for the holidays. The Easter season is a great opportunity to make some light-hearted jokes using your home’s decor.
This “Some Bunny Loves You” print from Marshalls just had to hop into our cart (yes..pun definitely intended!) A piece like this is great when it comes to decorating for Easter because you can layer it against another frame (or letter board) you have in your house. Plus, it’s pretty easy to store when the Easter season is over.
I also scooped up the white ceramic bunny to finish off this little Easter display. This is the only real section of my home devoted to Easter decor. So even if you just take one little spot in your house and style it with seasonal items, you can boost that holiday spirit fairly easily.
Little Updates Make a Big Difference
Obviously, we’re not ones to go crazy with holiday decor and that is a-okay. You can still inject small touches of the season into every room in your house without going overboard.
Case in point, this ADORABLE alarm clock with bunny ears for our nightstand. Even if the alarm clock didn’t have bunny ears, I’d still love it with the white and gold touches. But add on the bunny ears, and it’s officially the cutest alarm clock ever. This was such a find when we spotted it in the home decor aisle of Marshalls!
You’ll notice that the rest of my bedroom is pretty much the same and isn’t stuffed with spring or Easter decor. That little alarm clock gets the job done with a cute nod to Easter.
Spread the Love with an Easter Basket
If you’re not into decorating, shopping for others is an awesome way to get you excited for the upcoming holiday! When we picked up all of these Easter home decor items, we also gathered products to create the most adorable Easter basket ever.
Who needs a traditional basket when you have a bag that is as cool as this one?! I mean, c’mon this is the cutest thing ever! Once we found the bag, Bridget & I got to work finding the perfect Easter items to fill it. From candy, to cookies, to books, and even a stuffed bunny…we found all of these surprises at Marshalls to get the job done.
While it was fun to put this Easter “basket” together, the best part was delivering it to a very happy little boy…
My godson, Harry! He was thrilled with his gift. Yes, it is a little early to celebrate Easter, but I don’t think he seemed to mind.
So how do you think we did with our Easter challenge? We’re pretty happy with the small seasonal touches we added throughout Casey’s home (and you know we wanted to change the word “happy” to “hoppy” in this sentence, but did our very best to practice some self-restraint.) Ha!
Winter may not be over yet, but it isn’t too early to get excited for spring. At least you can make your indoors feel warm and festive!
