Since then, I’ve also added a few more pretty items to the room. Let’s take a little peek shall we?
Here’s what we added to the space.
All of these new items are from Lulu & Georgia. For quite some time now, I’ve admired their beautiful products online, but I never took the plunge and actually purchased anything from their site. But wanting to incorporate some on-trend decor into our master bedroom, I figured now was the best time to start browsing through their extensive selection.
To say I’m pleased with my new goodies would be an understatement. I’m pretty much obsessed, over-the-moon, heart-eye emojied with the additions. There’s just something about adding a few small items to a space that give it a new life & freshness!
My favorite new addition has to be the navy bench at the end of our bed. We previously had a small, black leather bench from Target in its place. It was just not proportionate and the leather was a little too stark against the white bedding. This new navy bench is absolutely perfect.
Plus it’s on wheels, so it’s easy to roll away from the bed when I make it in the morning.
Because I added the navy bench, I wanted to also incorporate navy in another area of the room. This velvet pillow adds some elegance and the perfect pop of color against the neutral bedding. And finally, let’s chat about this mirror shall we? Holy moley, this thing is HUGE. And sooooo heavy! At first I was a little nervous that it would be too big above the bed. But once we held it up there, I knew it was just what our tall wall needed. Plus, I love how the wood matches the dresser in the room. It’s a great way to incorporate some more wood tones into the space.
You should have seen Finn & I trying to hang this bad boy. Whoa baby. Marriage test right there. Thankfully it comes with some heavy-duty hanging equipment, so it’s definitely secure on our wall.
These new additions are really giving me motivation to finish up the rest of this space. And even though we’re not done yet, this room is turning out to be my absolute favorite in our new place. I just love the combination of masculine/feminine, and it just seems to really fit our style well.
Here’s where we stand with our master bedroom to-do list.
MASTER BEDROOM TO-DO LIST:
New, large rug
- Replace nightstands with matching ones (I’m leaning towards a white campaign style…but haven’t found any that don’t cost an arm & a leg yet…)
Hang art or mirror over the bed Change up a few of the bed pillows New bench that is more proportionate
- Sell 1 dresser & instead do vanity/work desk area
- Add personality on nightstands/dresser with accessories
- Hang art & frames on walls
- Add window treatments
- Stain blades of wood fan to match floor color
Replace black dresser
And if you take a look at the other side of this room, you’ll see what we’re working with here…
I’m planning to sell this large white dresser (let me know if you’re local and are interested!), and instead add a desk and organized work station. We originally thought we would put a desk in the guest room, but it just makes more sense to put it in this larger space. Plus it gets such great natural light in here, and I’m a sucker for light when I’m blogging away. I haven’t pulled the trigger on any desks or chairs yet, but look for more posts to come on this little nook of our master bedroom.
Then directly to the left of the dresser we have this blank wall space. It’s a stretch of wall in between our closet & bathroom. There isn’t really room to put any furniture on this wall (it would interfere with the walkway), so I’m not quite sure what I’ll put here. Gallery wall? Picture ledges? Any ideas for me?
So that’s where we stand in our master bedroom. A few big items ticked off our list, but we still have a ways to go.
