DIY Domino Tiles

We all remember B’s amazing backsplash, right?ย The white backslash in this kitchen pairs well with the tan granite counter tops.

It’s so drop dead gorgeous (& even better in person)! Well, once Bridget finished up that project she had quite a few leftover pieces of tile. It seemed like a shame to get rid of the tile, or to just have it sit around in her garage, so we decided to come up with a way to give a new life to the tile pieces. These DIY domino tiles make for great coffee table decor.

We ended up making these domino tiles for a little coffee table decor. We went with domino tiles because the were the perfect size and shape to mimic the game pieces. Plus they were so incredibly easy to make. Here’s the how-to…

These blank marble tiles are great for any sort of DIY project.

Supplies:

    • Tiles
    • Sharpie
    • Stencil (or something round to trace)
    • Felt
    • Hot Glue
    • Scissors

Draw on any design using the sharpie onto the blank marble tiles to make domino pieces.

I simply looked at some real domino tiles and mimicked the look. I found a stencil at the craft store with various circle sizes, so I used those to make perfect circles. As for the line in the middle, you can just use a ruler and make the line a little thicker.ย Cut and hot glue felt onto the bottom of the DIY domino pieces.

Then, I cut some felt for the bottom and hot glued it right on.ย Once domino playing tiles are assembled, lay them out.

It only took about 20 minutes to make 6 tiles, and I could have kept going to make an entire set…it was that easy.ย Place the DIY domino tiles into a decorative bowl on a coffee table.

They’re currently sitting on my coffee table in a cute little bowl from West Elm. It adds a little bit of whimsy to the area and shows off our love of games! I also think they could make for an adorable paperweight on an office desk. Perhaps to hold down colorful cards or pretty paper.

These DIY domino tiles are a fun and unique decor piece.

It just goes to show that it’s a-okay to think outside the box when it comes to supplies. Giving excess materials a new life is what the DIY spirit is all about, and it’s always fun for us to challenge ourselves to create something cool.

Now can someone teach me how to play dominos?ย casey_sig
